Every day the Royal Malaysia Police publish the previous day's road accident and death figures. Each report appears on its own and is rarely looked at again, so the pattern behind the daily numbers stays out of sight. Gathered into one continuous record, they read differently: on an average day this year, Malaysia sees about 1,800 road accidents and 15 people killed.

This page keeps that record for 2026, updated daily and open to anyone. The aim is to make the scale of it known and to keep it in view. Numbers alone do not save lives, but they are where the case for safer roads has to begin.

What the statuses mean

verified: JSPT published the day's figures, and they reconcile both with the day-on-day change-note printed in the report itself and with the previous recorded day. Nearly every row is of this kind.
provisional: Published and recorded, but one figure sits a little outside what the report's own change-note implies — a margin under 2%, usually a misprinted or later-revised digit. The figure is kept as published and flagged so it can be read with that in mind.
derived: Worked out from a neighbouring day's change-note rather than read from a report of its own. No new rows are recorded this way. Any that remain predate that rule and stay flagged until their own report is found.
not published: No figures for that day had been issued when this page was last updated — either none were released, or the report is no longer served. The day is left empty rather than estimated or filled in from the days around it, so it marks a gap in the record, not a day without accidents. These days are excluded from every total and average on this page.

Monthly totals and averages

Totals are the sum of the days the source actually published, not the full calendar month — read them against Days sampled. Bars compare months on the same scale; averages are per recorded day, so they stay comparable where coverage differs.
